fruitfullness

Interesting fact in regards to ministry and "work/life" balance:

When I wasn't working regularly, I volunteered much of my time to ministry, giving whatever I could to my church. Nothing wrong there, but what I have seen over the last eight months is this- I am more fruitful in ministry when I am fruitful in my work life.

Though I have less time to give, I understand now how valuable my time is, and give it with a sense of import.

Hard Times

As deeply in love as Jacob and Carolyn are with each other, they live far apart, and haven't seen each other in a month. To make matters worse, they won't see each other for another month.

The upside? When they are re-united geographically, it will be for over a month, and when that time is up there will be only six weeks until they are together with marital finality.

So join me in praying for these two love-birds as they try to stay sane as they miss each other.

Episode 1: they meet

Let's start at the beginning shall we? Jacob and friends traveled to Texas to lead worship at Freshwind360, a conference taking place in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. The band drove all day, stopped for a hotel, and then all day again the next day. Oklahoma was a particular drag.

But upon arriving in Dallas, we met up with our dear friend Joyce, who informed us that we would all be attending a BBQ with the folks that she was living with. Upon the announcement, the woman of the house, Cathy Wenth, entered the hotel lobby and escorted us back to her place.

Jacob decided to head into the back yard to meet the man operating the grill. His name was/is Rick Wenth, and he and Cathy were our hosts for the duration of the week, by way of providing our meals, and just looking after our needs and what-not.

Well, Texas is a hot place, especially in the summer time. So Jacob went back inside, where a new individual had arrived. She stood in the kitchen, wearing a grubby t-shirt, hair all askew, and Jacob thought to himself "my she is a nice looking lady". He introduced himself, grabbed a drink, then High-Tailed it on out of there, so as not to become overly distracted by the presence of this girl, whose name, Jacob learned, is Carloyn.

As the conference began, and the days past, Jacob couldn't help but notice the regular re-appearance of this Carolyn person. She worked at the Starbucks adjacent to the hotel we were staying in (thank you Jon Long for pointing that out), and she also came along to the conference. She even came up to Jacob's Mission trip booth and signed up to receive e-mails. Crazy.

By week's end, both Jacob and Carolyn felt as though a nice level of friendship had developed, not to mention a significant amount of "gosh I hope we stay in touch." Suffice it to say, by the existence of this blog, they stayed in touch with each other. They stayed in touch indeed. And for that matter, in deed.

Stay tuned for more of the still unfolding story.

Welcome to the Hub of Jacob and Carolyn's life online

Welcome, friends!

You have found your way to the new online source for all your Jacob and Carolyn information needs. Here you will find the story of how these two met, the interesting and important moments in their relationship thus far, and the story of how they became engaged and eventually married. It's the true story, and is a shocking revelation of Jacob's true romantic potential, coupled with Carolyn's ability to speak, weep, tremble, chew gum, and look beautiful all at the same time.

Also, depending on how well this goes off, this could become the site for R.S.V.P.'s for important events like, bachelor partie's, Bachelorette Parties, Give-Jacob-Some-Beer parties, and the like. So stay tuned for that fun stuff.

But for now, wait with eager anticipation as I, the narrator, work up some sweet content for this blog.

Love you all.
